How To DIY Artificial Grass in Outdoor Garden

With prices rising, gardeners and water bills are hitting new highs every day. Want to the cost of keeping the grass in front and back is getting higher and higher. So the demand for artificial turf is growing. But many friends asked the professional installation of the estimate, heard the price is hesitant. It is easy to understand that as prices rise, so does the cost of labor. So the cost of professional installation is also high. Is there a way to do it yourself to save money? But worried you can't do it right? Is there a way to save money and still maintain the final installation? Use this post to communicate with all of us in the installation process of the problem: correct measurement

The right measurements can solve a key problem:

The demand for raw materials is usually measured with a little slack (not too loose, too loose scrap). Better have more than less. When the amount is less and need to be replenished it will be more troublesome. In general, squares, rectangles, trapezoids, and even triangles are fine. The biggest challenge is that the arcs are not easy to measure. The simplest way is to do the oval shape (as shown). Once we measure that, we can get a rough idea of how much material we need.

Step 1: Dig. This procedure varies from house to house, depending on the quality of your taxi and how much weeds you have. In general, I recommend renting a sodcutter at home depot. The original sod can be pulled up by the roots when finished. Basically one or two "of the earth has been dug up. Rent a dumpster if the yard is larger to dispose of waste soil. If there are no weeds left, you may just flatten the soil. (Note: if you have a gopher in your yard, then lay a gopher net.) Once this is done, you can purchase sand and gravel to make a sub base. Southern California because of less rain so we usually choose sand base. Southern California because there is less rain so we usually buy sand and stone decomposed granite. In other places with more rain, type2 road-base and DG layers with larger particles can be selected. The usual ratio is that if you dig 1" below the horizon you need 200sgft/ton of sand. If you dig 2", then it's 100sqft/ton and so on. It can be delivered to your door. There is a shipping charge, so be sure to buy all at once. Sand and stone falling into the dug ground can be manually pushed with a rake. After flattening, you can begin to compact. compactor is also available for rent at home depot. It is suggested that the effect of sprinkling water in the process of tamping will be better. The end result must be to make sure that the soles of your feet don't feel high or low. If you feel the difference between high and low, you can use compactor special deal with it.

The second step is to lay the grass screening membrane. The worst thing you can do with fake grass is grow natural grass. So the grass membrane is very necessary. There are usually two types of diaphragms: one is plastic, completely impervious to water. The other is textile and has water permeability. Make sure you choose textile. Because that's how you get into the water when it rains. Once the barrier film is in place, secure it with staples.

Step 3: Spread artificial grass. You should obviously buy artificial grass before spreading it. Most of the artificial grass sold in the United States is 15' wide and 100 long rolls. I have parts of it 12x100. The wider the better is generally preferred (we can also support customization), as this can reduce the number of seams. But there is the problem of waste. If you have a 25x25 then you might want to buy two 15x25. So you have a 5x25 scrap. But some sellers are willing to help the guests save grass, there will be small rolls to cooperate with the guests. This can be done to save material, which can be much cheaper. Height selection 35mm-45mm-50mm artificial grass. You can pick it up or have it delivered to your home. Then you can open the lawn roll and start laying. The whole laying process is not complicated, but some areas need to be relatively fine work, such as lawn seam and trimming. If you don't get these two steps right, artificial grass won't look good. It is recommended to find the grass selling points before making the seam and practice on your own. The thing is practice makes perfect. It's not rocket science. You get the skill with the scraps. There are two kinds of glue on the market: simple tape and liquid super glue. Seam according to personal preference. Putting on nails takes a lot of energy. Usually 1000sgft sites need at least 1000 pcs5-6 "nails. The edge is usually 4 "a nail to secure, and the farther down the center can be relatively less dense (one per 2sgft). This step usually takes time. Finally, the edge of the artificial grass should be pressed between the ground and the sand foundation, so that there is a perfect blend.

Step 4: Sprinkle the infills, usually we use 16 or 20 silica sandInfill's main function is to hold the grass silky stand. Second, it adds weight to the turf to make it nice and strong. The amount of infill usually depends on the height of the grass filaments. 15 "grass silk usually 5-6" nails. A 4 "nail is usually used to secure the edges, and the farther down the center can be relatively less dense (one per 2sqft). This step usually takes time. Finally, the edge of the artificial grass should be pressed between the ground and the sand foundation, so that there is a perfect blend.
